I had no Instagram post for Christmas Day this year and actually no IG stories. Nor was I on Twitter, or pinning stuff on Pinterest. I was enjoying the day with our family and celebrating our wedding anniversary. Among other stuff we do on our anniversary, one of them is to just be silly and spontaneous. Okay, that’s something we do on almost every holiday break. But you get it. We put on some warm clothes and headed out to our backyard patio to have a snowball fight with the fresh snowfall we had just gotten in Mississauga.
Snowball fight in Style with the Warmest Sweater Ever!
Of course, my sister fromMAC Decor was prepared with the camera and got some great shots! She does wedding and events decor if anyone is looking. Check her out on Instagram: MAC Decor – Toronto.
Do you remember an epic snowball fight? I actually cannot remember one before this one. I also don’t have the best memory either.
I love this sweater from ROMWE. The quality is on point! Super soft fabric, the high low shape is body flattering and the grey tone is perfect. This sweater is now 65% off on the site: Check it out.
The pants I’m wearing are from Top Shop and they’re high rise stretchy skinny jeans. The most comfortable pants money could buy! These jeans are actually currently trending and almost out of stock: Check it out.
During my early years as a blogger, I wondered what it would be like to sit among other like-minded individuals in the blogging world. So here I am, this year, with lots of breakfast, lunch/brunch and dinners with other bloggers and I gotta say, what an awesome experience! Some bloggers are very different in person from what I actually thought they’d be like according to their posts and online voice. And others, like the below crew, are exactly the same offline as they present themselves online. When they’re exactly the same, I have to admit I get such a feel-good feeling. It’s wonderful to see that realness and authenticity come to life. So here’s what happens during brunch with bloggers:
Last month I met up with some amazing bloggers for brunch, in downtown Toronto. You might recognize them(see above). First, there are the quick intros and then the “omg that’s you!” chit-chat. And then lots of talk about blogging. Everything from how to editing, favourites applications, google analytics and SEO – (I’m drooling!) brands and events. I love talking tech! Plugins and what works for us and what doesn’t. If there is one takeaway you should get from this post, it would be “together we are stronger”. As similar as we may seem for content creation and voices; we all still have our own style, community, and our own niche experiences/opinions.
I love how bloggers bounce ideas off each other and the best part is when the food comes out, it comes out altogether so we can take flat lays, single shots and just pictures galore without anyone getting upset. Because we all get it! It’s a no judge zone and at that moment while taking pictures we are all pulling in the same energy and are alike. That is the very moment everyone really comes together. When we’re in our natural blogging element. Brunch with bloggers is not only about food, but getting to know the beautiful individuals I love to follow online and getting to know them at a much more realistic level.

Here’s what I wore to the brunch. I have been looking for a pleated winter skirt for so long! Now that I’ve found it, I want to wear it as much as possible! I found this skirt online at Aritizia and it was on sale for $80. Linked it and some others:
The wait for the long weekend is over! *insert happy dance* That one extra day of having my husband home makes a world of a difference. It means I get to do so much more than I usually do on the weekends. The weather has been really topsy turvy and because of that I opted for a long weekend ready outfit from Dixie Outlet Mall that would work in rain or shine.
We often forget the power of the sun and being outdoors for long periods of time can get you sun burnt. I keep my make-up to a minimal on a long weekend. Just don’t want to be bothered with spending hours applying it just to take it off again. Best fashion accessory to hide behind is a cute hat of course! I got this hat from Ardene and you won’t believe the deals they have here! The hat (regular price $12.50) was under a section that said 5/10. This means, 5 items for $10! Mind blown, right? I actually had first picked up a cape from the front rack of the store that I really liked. At the cash register they said it was $25, but because it was under the 5 for $10 section, I could pick up 3 more items and get them all for $10. *Heck yea!*
It felt like I was getting freebies at Ardene. For the 3 additional items, I chose knee high socks (regular: $5) and flip flops (regular: $6.50) for when I go swimming. Where else can you go shopping and get 5 items like this for $10?! There are so many #DixieDeals at the Dixie Outlet Mall. It’s a matter of learning about them all so when you go there next, you know exactly where to shop, what part of the store and what you’ll be able to get.
I love slip on sandals because they can be dressed up or dressed down for a day at the beach. I got these beige ones from Call it Spring on sale for $29.99. As a side note, you’ll notice the mall has colour coded entrances. This store is closest to the purple entrance. Check out the mall map here to plan out where to park.
I heard via social media that Suzy Shier opened up at the Dixie Outlet Mall. Naturally I had to check it out! Short story: I use to shop at Suzy Shier all the time years ago. I remember getting the perfect black dress pants and I wore them so much that they ripped. Months later, I went back to Suzy Shier to see if they had a replacement for them and to my surprise they did! I bought 3 pairs that day! For my long weekend look I found the perfect white sheer t-shirt for $22.50; that will transition well from spring, through the summer.
High-waisted pants are my best friend, especially since having Baby Z a month ago. The grey pants were bought at Dynamite for $20 on the clearance racks! Can’t wait to style these pants this long weekend. Shopping for my little ones is so much fun! Although I’m pretty set for the year with clothes for both Baby D and Z, how could I ignore the great deals at Carters? This entire outfit worn by Baby D is from Carters.
Shirt – $18 – Pants – $20 – Shoes –$34
These shoes are really comfortable. He has a pair he wears at daycare as his indoor shoes so this pair will be great for outdoors. They’re called Robeez soft soles and the soles are just that. Ultra soft, flexible leather bends easily making these shoes really comfortable. You can find them at the front of the Carters store on a rack.
Our long weekend plans usually consist of spending some time outdoors by the river, at the park, shopping and some good quality time with our families and friends. What are your plans for the long weekend? Do you have an outfit planned out?

Spring flowers are blooming, people are gardening and the spring trends have started to roll into all of our favourite stores! Over the years, I’ve collected so many clothes, to a borderline hoarder point. I have an excessive amount of clothes that I haven’t worn in years. This made me realise it was time for a Spring cleaning wardrobe refresh.
Spring Cleaning For a Wardrobe Refresh…
My goal for a wardrobe refresh was to add more neutrals to my closet and get rid of all the clothes that were colours, prints or designs I couldn’t see myself wearing again. Out with old, in with new!
Dixie Outlet Mall has some great options for a Spring wardrobe refresh! Keeping in mind the colours I was looking for and the looks I wanted to create, it made my shopping experience so much easier. We often go shopping with little or no thought into what we’re exactly looking for. We end up shopping for hours with no direction. Having a game plan helps you leave the mall content with your choices.
One of my favourite looks for spring is boat chic. Blue and white, comfy sneakers, white or neutral/light t-shirts.
The Tommy Hilfiger outlet at the Dixie Outlet Mall is the best place for trousers and chino’s in different fits (straight, slim etc.) Trousers at Tommy Hilfiger generally cost anywhere between $70-120, at Dixie’s Tommy Hilfiger outlet store I purchased my chino slim fit pants for $41.99!
In the back of the store close to the cash register, you’ll find their sale/clearance racks, aka the best in #DixieDeals. They have great choices in comfortable t-shirts and blouses. They have a promotion going on where the sale rack t-shirts are $12.89. These deals remind me of cross-border shopping, but found conveniently in our city! I’ve been wanting a nice pair of white sneakers for awhile now, specifically; converse sneakers. There were a few stores at Dixie Outlet Mall that have converse sneakers and the prices for white chuck taylors range from $60-65. However, I got lucky and found a pair for $54.99 at the Journeys Outlet store.
I found this beautiful, flowy coat from Urban Planet for $29.99. I picture pairing this with a lot of clothes I already own and it’s great for making any outfit, dressier.
Another great Spring trend you can find at the Urban Planet store in Dixie Outlet Mall are culotte pants. I scored these pants for $24.99 and these strappy heels, from the ALDO outlet. You may have seen them in my Spring Shoes Haul post.
All in all, I did really well at the Dixie Outlet Mall, but as I found, that’s no surprise!
What are your favourite Spring trends and are you due for a spring cleaning wardrobe refresh?

I’m so excited to be an ambassador of Dixie Outlet Mall, which means I’ll be sharing lots of #DixieDeals across all of my platforms! Hint* make sure you’re following me.
It’s been just about a year since we moved into our new house, and the living room has become one of the most important, if not the most important room in the house. We spend so much time here, from watching Netflix to cuddling/playing with baby D. We needed to make sure this room was comfy and cozy.
The challenge was that our schedules have been super crazy since we moved in, so it’s been hard to find the time to spruce up the place. Enter Dixie Outlet Mall to the rescue! We headed to the Winners first to see what #DixieDeals we could find to make our favourite room even cozier, and our Netflix nights more Chill.
Of course, when you start shopping in a store like Winners, it’s really hard not to pick up items for yourself too, but it’s all part of the job though, right?! I’ve been to the Dixie Outlet Mall Winners store a bunch of times and no joke, I always leave there with an amazing find. I made my way to the women’s section and found an awesome button-up Ralph Lauren shirt to wear to work for $40. A shirt like this usually costs between $100-150 at the Ralph Lauren store, so this was a major score! I opted for a boyfriend size/look so I could fit into it while I struggle get through the last seven weeks of my pregnancy. Naturally during pregnancy, when your belly gets big, everything else starts to stretch out… my waist isn’t as tiny as it used to be, so I picked up some super cozy PJ pants by Max Studio for $20! And with that, I was set to Netflix and Chill in all my cozy, but stylish splendor.
Fast forward to our movie night in, which is a rarity with our aforementioned crazy schedules, so they’re even more of a treat when we find the time to indulge. Speaking of time, part of the reason I love this Ralph Lauren shirt is it’s stylish, but also super comfy, so I don’t have to waste time do a full outfit change when I get home from work. Just a quick switch into my Max Studio PJ pants and I am good to go and get some popcorn poppin’!
But, remember part of the reason we went to Dixie Outlet Mall was to fix up the living room, and the best way to do that quick and easy is with great cushions, and a throw. These super-soft, plush, cream cushions were just $35 for a set of two and this lovely throw that you may have seen all over Instagram was $24.99!
All of the outlets at Dixie Outlet Mall have AMAZING clearance racks; these are even more discounted than the already marked down goods. I snatched this orb for $8 and these popcorn bowls for $15 from the Winners clearance rack, so make sure to always head to the back of the stores, you never know what you might find! There are so many great stores in Dixie Outlet Mall, I was amazed at how I found everything in one store for this shopping challenge, but that didn’t stop me from popping into other stores to get some more ideas…more on that later 🙂
How do you spend your movie nights in?

I absolutely love this time of the year! How can anyone not? It’s full of love, surprises and so much cheer. I’m really looking forward to the holidays, especially since it’s also our wedding anniversary on Dec 25th. Every time I tell people that, the reactions I get are either “OMG, you guys are crazy! How did you manage?” or “Awee that’s so cute” or how about.. “You guys must really love Christmas!”
To be honest, it’s a bit of all three. Okay, so because we have our anniversary and the holidays are among us, I get really conscious about how much and where I spend my money.
So when I was given a $100 Shopping Challenge for a holiday look, you bet I was excited! As soon as I got to the Dixie Outlet Mall, all that excitement turned into,
“Oh $#&*. $100?! Okay, this is going to be for reals a challenge.”
As I walked around the mall, I realized oh right… this is an outlet. Which means, great deals! The first place I went to was winners. I bought these cute open toe boots with a wrap around ankle detail and these half leather/half cotton leggings. The boots were regular priced at $85 and I got them for $30! Amazing buy! After awhile of searching I found these tights on sale for $10. I was surprised, because I have a similar pair at home not as great of quality that I bought for $30 elsewhere.
I don’t like wearing my winter coat to holiday dinners as it’s really bulky (i.e a parka) and the worse is when I have to place it on my chair due to no coat check. The bottom always touches the floor and gets dirty. So instead I got this coat from Dynamite – The Garage Clothing Co. It was on sale for $35 from $50 on Black Friday! I went back after Black Friday and the coat was back on sale for $50. So happy I got it on Black Friday! Such a steal!
Note: Dixie Outlet Mall has great deals and low prices all year and then on special days like Black Friday and Boxing Day, even more reduced prices.
It has really nice zipper details and a belt! I opted for a medium size due to my personal preference of wearing over-sized coats/jackets.
I love combining lace and leather into one outfit. They go together so well. For some, it’s a strong statement but so are red lips and I dared to add that to the mix! You just gotta live on the wild side sometimes. I got this lace crop top and a plain black long sleeve shirt to wear underneath from Sirens. The lace crop top was $15 and the plain black shirt $10. Both are so comfortable! Here’s a more brighter detailed image of the top:
I didn’t think I could pull it off but honestly I probably couldn’t have if I was shopping anywhere else. Dixie Outlet Mall has amazing deals and that’s a fact! Especially after putting it to the test with this $100 Holiday Shopping Challenge. Okay, so now for the GIVEAWAY! Head over to my Instagram @HumJK to enter to win a $100 Dixie Outlet Mall gift card! Good luck everyone and happy shopping!
Finally I got around to opening this voxbox and trying the products that I got for testing purposes. Below is my review of each product that I used for a little over one week now. Let me know below in the comments if you’ve tried any of these products and what you think! It was great hearing from you guys on Instagram. XO
L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Brightening Daily Scrub Cleanser
I’ve used this for a week now and one of the things that I love about this scrub is that the beads are not abrasive. They’re actually gentle compared to other leading brands. The scent is not overpowering and it appears to be working. I did start to break out after the first day of using it, but that could just be the resurfacing of dirt etc for the deep cleansing to work.
When to use: Nightly What does it do: Gently exfoliates dullness and gets rid of impurities (dirt and all that make-up grime that’s seeped into the next layer of your skin. *gross*) Key ingredients: Glycolic Acid and Perlite
L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Bright Reveal SPF 30 Moisturizer
For an everyday moisturizer that has SPF 30 this is very light in texture. It has a bit of a pearly look to it, which actually doesn’t affect the look of your makeup when taking pictures etc. It actually brightens your face in a radiant glowy kind of way. It almost reminds me of the Guerlain pearls primer. Not exactly but could be a distant cousin of it. My skin did feel moisturized all day which is great, because I have some dry spots on my face. In terms of long term results of a week of using I don’t see a huge difference in the darker areas of my face, but maybe I need to prolong the use to see that. If you have sun spots like me, I would still protect those areas with a higher spf. SPF 30 won’t take you through an entire day of office lights or sun exposure.
When to use: Daily What does it do: Absorbs quickly. UVA/UVB SPF 30 protection Key ingredients: Glycolic Acid
Dual Overnight Moisturizer
This dual overnight moisturizer reminds me of the day SPF 30 because of the texture and look of the cream. After I used the peel pad from this line and applied this moisturizer I saw instant radiance in my skin. Is that even possible? Well, it has been “revealing brighter skin” as promised. But I’m not sure if it’s because of the amount of glycolic acid and pro-retinol or if it’s the mica. For those of you who don’t know, mica is an earth mineral included in products to give them sparkle and shine. It’s usually found in make-up. The reason why it’s called dual moisturizer is because it is one side serum and one side moisturizer. With one pump, you get an even amount of both to apply all over your face and neck. Because this product has 4% glycolic acid and pro-retinol I started using it on my neck only to see if my skin reacts to the combination. So far no reaction. Just brighter and moisturized skin! I’m also a firm believer of not mixing skincare steps into one. I like using my serum first, waiting 30 seconds and then applying moisturizer on top. Also don’t believe in 2 in 1 shampoo/conditioner products. But so far the results have been great so I can’t complain. Would I use this again after I finish this bottle, probably not. I like to mix and match different brands and favourites. Having my serum and moisturizer in one, doesn’t allow me to do that. I would recommend someone trying glycolic acid or retinol products for the first time to test on the neck or the inside of the their wrist before applying all over their face. Not everyone reacts the same to skincare, better to be safe than sorry. Also, you won’t always get lucky and get both treatments in one pump. I had to slap the bottom of the bottle to get the serum to pump out. So as you see in the image, the moisturize to serum ratio isn’t always equal.
When to use: Nightly after cleansing What does it do: Two treatments in one pump. Penetrates skin’s surface to remove dead skin cells and infuse brightening formula for overnight skin rejuvenation Key ingredients: 4% Glycolic, Vitamin Cg, Pro-Retinol
L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Bright Reveal Peel Pads
The last time I used pre-soaked pads like these was when I tried oxy pads. Probably when I was a teenager. Ever since then I haven’t been drawn to products like this just cause I fear I won’t close the jar properly and the product will dry up. That happened to me once. Oxy days. Because these pads are soaked with 10% Glycolic Acid I was scared to use right away all over my face so I started only using it on my neck. Even after washing my face, I noticed on the pad some left over traces of make-up. UGH. Felt instant gratification for these pads for removing that gunk. Out of habit I always use a rough hand to apply skincare and used the pads the first few times of use a tad bit to abrasively. I did start to feel some uncomfortable tingling and then read the instructions, where it said “gently apply in circular motions…”. *Doh* After that I’ve been following the instructions and I have noticed brighter and more smooth skin. Which is awesome for make-up applications. I received this product for testing purposes.
When to use: Nightly What does it do: Ultra-gentle pre-soaked textured pads physically resurface dead skin cells Key ingredients: 10% Glycolic Complex
You may have seen the womens necktie at Zara(Which was first $20, then $10 and now on sale for $3.99), magazines and dare I say, the Kardashians. Aside from those places, I’m sure if you asked your mom, aunt and any working woman from the 70’s/80’s, she’ll tell you that the womens necktie is a spin off of the pussy bow blouse. So these ties we’re rocking in 2015/16, are really a tribute to the boss ladies of the 80’s. Nice.Check out the documentary – Makers: Women Who Make America, a three-hour documentary on the history of modern feminism that aired on PBS. Meg Whitman, CEO of Hewlett-Packard said:
“We used to dress in suits with a skirt and a jacket with button-down shirts and a little bow tie, because that was sort of our interpretation of the man’s tie…It was our attempt to be feminine but fit into what was then a male world.”
Now, here are 5 ways to wear a womens necktie:
Straight like a man
Under any button up collar shirt this looks exactly like a regular tie for men. Skinny tie actually.
2. Tie it in a bow Style it this way with pretty much anything!
3. Wear it like a choker
Wearing it like a choker is a statement look. It looks best with a dress that has less fabric at the top. Whether it’s strapless, sleeveless or boat neck. You can get fancy by tying it in a bow at the back. (This is my favourite!)
4. Keep it loose
5. To the side
Wear it to the side with a blouse or a dress.
The necktie worn above was made by my talented friend Sharadha Ramjit. You should check out her blog post where she rocks the necktie and some of her other beautiful creations! *GIVEAWAY ANNOUNCEMENT* I’ve teamed up with Sweet Shard to giveaway a necktie and I’m throwing in a Shoppers Drug Mart gift card for $50 so you can finish the look with new beauty products! Head over to my instagram and follow the instructions on how to enter to win. Good luck!
My little one is almost a year old! Eight months to be exact and tell me why I’m still wearing some of my maternity wear?! And don’t say it’s because I haven’t lost the weight. Because I have. Not all of it. But still. To be honest, it’s because my maternity wear is just so darn comfortable! I’m sure other mama’s can relate.
These maternity jeans are from ASOS and the material is really stretchy so I was able to wear these throughout my entire pregnancy and even after. The stretchy band at the top however has gotten more and more loose on me over the months since I had my little one. And now the time has come to say goodbye and put them away. But seriously,
if you’re looking for trendy cool maternity wear then ASOS is your best bet! P.S Get their maternity leggings! Most tops you can purchase from anywhere and just buy one, two or however much you need sizes up. But with pants no matter the size it can look a bit weird or not sit comfortably around your belly/lower belly area. Or too loose on legs.
Shirt – Massimo Dutti // Maternity Jeans – ASOS // Purse – Charles & Keith // Booties – Nine West
I feel as if I may have written this somewhere before, but I love Korean fashion! (And that’s before our trip to South Korea). Toronto has many options when it comes to shopping for looks directly from Korea. Especially on Queen St! If you look carefully you can find some nice stuff from Spoof!, a boutique on the corner of Queen and Spadina and there are a few more whose store names I can’t remember. Kathy?! Something like that.
There have been times where I found some unique outfits made in Korea but they didn’t have my size. Most girls there are petite in terms of their frame, not as much for height. But if you really love it don’t worry, do as I do and turn a dress into a pant shirt combo or wear it with leggings! Short sleeves? I layer a longer sleeve shirt underneath or just roll my sleeves up! Everything I’m wearing in these pictures is from Korea, minus the leggings. I’m certain those are from garage clothing.
Down fall to sharing outfits like this is that they have no brand name tags that I can share with you. However makes for great colour combo inspiration and now you know, no name brands, look under Korean fashion racks. I bought the overalls dress in South Korea and the sweater from one of the above stores mentioned. I believe it was Spoof! I was surprised that the overalls dress was incredibly stretchy for material that feels like felt! Have you shopped at Korean fashion stores? Do you have any Favourites?
