This is the best spicy eggs breakfast recipe I’ve tried so far! This Kejriwal Style – Indian Breakfast is really filling and full of flavour. Making breakfast has become my specialty in our household. I was on a roll with breakfast under the sweet and tangy categories but I didn’t really master the spicy realm. So I did a little research and found this really awesome recipe with a story attached to it. As you know I love a good story! And with some tweaks to the recipe it became a favourite very quickly! I’ve been sharing this in my Instagram stories a lot and many of you have asked for the recipe so due to popular demand, here it is:

spicy eggs recipe spicy breakfast with 2 toasts 1 or 2 eggs

WHAT’S THE KEJRIWAL STORY?

The quick version of the story is there was a man in the 1960s, Mr. Kejriwal. He was a regular at the Willingdon Sports Club. He requested for ‘spicy eggs’ and other members of the club were intrigued when they would peek over at what he was eating. It didn’t take long for the club to add it to their menu and call it ‘Kejriwal Eggs’.

LOOKING FOR SOMETHING SWEET? TRY MY ROLLED FRENCH TOAST

kejriwal spicy eggs breakfast

INGREDIENTS

4 slices of brioche bread
I use brioche because it absorbs well and gives a bit of sweetness to this recipe. However, some use sourdough or whole wheat.

3 egg yolks or whole eggs (used for the mix)
3-4 eggs to fry
2 diced roma tomatoes
1-2 cups of cheddar cheese grated
Depending on how cheesy you want it, add more.

1/4 whipping cream or buttermilk if you want it to be really spicy. Whipping cream is sweeter.
1 tablespoon of melted butter
2 teaspoon of cumin
(you can do 1 tsp, I double up because we love cumin and I found this is the key ingredient for flavour)

1 teaspoon of chilli powder
Coriander (as you wish – I sprinkle some on top at the end sometimes)
Spring Onion (I use a lot at the end and sometimes some in the mix)
Sliced Chillis (I don’t use more than 1 otherwise I think it gets too spicy. This tastes better when the cumin isn’t overpowered by spice)
Chilli flakes

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Mix together the 3 egg yolks. diced tomatoes, cheddar cheese, Whipping cream, cumin and chilli powder. Combine well and set aside until ready for the oven.
  2. Lightly toast the bread first. Put toast on aluminum foil and now the mix on top of each slice. Toast again for 5 minutes or however long it takes for the cheese to melt.
  3. Fry the remaining eggs. Don’t fry completely, just enough so that the yolk spreads when cut. Add the fried eggs to the toast and garnish with green onions, chilli flakes, coriander and/or green chillis.
When it’s ready to go into the oven/toaster oven it’ll look like this. Cook to your desire. I usually just toast it in the
toaster oven until the cheese is golden brown.

The belief behind the WASO line is that all things beautiful come from nature. Whenever I use any products from this line, the saying “you are what you eat” always comes to my mind. After all, skincare is food for your skin. Nourishment and essential top layer care. WASO is inspired by the holistic and natural Japanese food traditions of Washoku. Washoku means “Japanese eating”.

Washoku consists of rice, miso soup and side dishes like fish, pickled vegetables and vegetables cooked in broth. Are you hungry yet? The most common is seafood, which is either grilled or raw (sushi/sashimi).

Most of you know my deep love for Japan. Their cuisine, beauty products, and way of life, we’ve traveled to Japan three times and honestly, I can’t wait to go back for a fourth visit. I had the pleasure of meeting the marketing people behind Shiseido many times in my years of working in the beauty industry and I have to say they’re some of the most passionate people I’ve met. They genuinely love the products and know so much brand history.

This super-rich cream was inspired by fermented soybeans that help to lock in moisture for 48-hours and even help prevent acne and breakouts! This cream has carrot cells, soybean extract and I love that it has a matte finish. There is some amazing science behind this product. If you use it over time it can actually lead to the strengthening of your skin’s barrier so that your skin creates a natural ability to retain moisture. Retails: $50

I am, you are, we are – Activity

I found this website that has many activities you can do with your children from the ages of 3-12 that will really get them thinking. The one linked above is actually one that I know I can do with my 3 and 5 year old. I would of course need to change some of the language I use for them to understand but the overall goal of this activity is to describe the analogy between potatoes and people and reiterate that a statement such as “they’re all the same” probably means that the person saying it, has not taken the time to get to know the person. For this activity you can use a bag of potatoes you have at home. There are so many other activities that you may find helpful. The website is called Racism No Way.

skill stacking for career and business success

This topic started off as an Instagram stories segment and then I realized very quickly how wordy this would be and I’m so glad I’ve decided to put this into writing. Recently I read about skill stacking, but only to realize I’ve been doing this for years. I actually started doing this when I was 16. Going to school and taking courses was great but the most valuable things I taught myself was actually not in school. It was from picking up books, watching videos and actually practicing what I wanted to master. I haven’t read this book, but the strategy some say derives from a Scott Adams book; How To Fail At Almost Everything and Still Win Big.

Skill stacking: a strategy to build a career. This strategy is to acquire valuable skills.

Skill stacking

Start with combining your skills into a list of roughly 5. Ask yourself what skills will make you more valuable at your current role or that you’ll need for your dream job. The more valuable you are the faster you’ll achieve career success. Exactly when you’ll achieve that success doesn’t matter. Stay focused on the actual skills and staying on track of mastering those skills.

The 5 recommended skills that you should acquire are:

Productivity

Personal effectiveness revolves around productivity. Mastering productivity as a skill will actually help you achieve any other skills. The more productive you are the easier it’ll be for you to master the other skills you need to achieve career success. Also keep in mind productivity differs from person to person and so does the definition of ‘career success’. Stop yourself from comparing your journey to others or your level of being productive vs others.

Communication

Being a good communicator can be very valuable in your career or business. Think about it, if you’re good at communicating promotions, news, important information and the message gets across clearly and concisely, this makes your end goal easier to grasp. You can also work towards this skill by writing more often. Your writing is essentially your thoughts put into words. Some other ways to get better at communication is to be a part of activities that force you to communicate in different ways like improv or toastmasters.

Psychology

I love reading books about psychology. Not the university textbook kind, but the ones that help you understand how people think. Allow you to put yourself in others shoes. You don’t need to be an expert or psychologist, just a basic understanding or enough to understand why people do what they do. Having some knowledge on this will help you respond to certain situations that majority may feel uncomfortable to respond. One of my favourite books is lateral thinking by Edward De Bono. It takes you into some real brain twisting puzzles and gives you a different perspective to think about. This book also teaches you how to switch the way we think. And you start to realize if you are a lateral thinker or know how to switch into that mode. In order to be successful at the work place you need to learn to work well with others. Team work makes the dream work.

Persuasion

The art and science of influencing people in an ethical way. It can be abused by anyone but those who abuse it have a lot to lose once people catch on. This happens a lot in the sales realm of things (sorry) but when I say persuasion, I’m not speaking in that sense. I’m talking about when it’s a win win situation with both parties. When you know that whatever you’re trying to persuade would offer many benefits to the other party. Example, if you know your company that you work for needs a new system in place. Whether it’s hardware or software and in the past you’ve heard it’s been really difficult to get the company to integrate or even agree. Persuading strategically to have them understand the benefits of this integration is what would add value to your career. There are lots of books and workshops you can join to learn how. I don’t have any specific ones to recommend off the top of my head, because it’s been a long time (over a decade) since I last read one. Do a quick search and see what fits best for you.

Personal Finance

This could be a skill that you may or may not have and it’s totally okay to piggy back off of a loved one *cough cough* my husband helps me with this. I do make the effort sometimes to learn what he does to keep our personal finances in the green. Overall, live below your means and don’t spend more than you make. If you absolutely can’t do that then you need to get some side hustles in place. This creates a line of disposable income that you can play with.

No matter where you are in the world, you have to feed yourself. I love finding beautiful coffee shops that have really good treats and lattes. That has always been my thing. Every country, city and town my husband and I have traveled too, we’ve found a good coffee shop or cafe to depend on. Packages Mall is a new-ish mall that opened up near the defence area. There are lots of designer stores, European brands and local.

The Pantry inside Packages Mall – The Best Latte I had in Lahore

I went to Packages Mall to shop, 4 times. The first time I went, we had a mocha latte at Cinnabon. It wasn’t good. The second time, after shopping we stopped at Second Cup and had a latte and it was terrible. The third time was truly a charm.

lahore pakistan travel
This Date Cake was SO good! Paired with the latte it was so delicious.

My family and I got different drinks to see if their entire variety was just as good as the latte I had. My sister got some kind of hot chocolate drink and my brother had a fruit smoothie. The smoothie wasn’t as great as the hot drinks were. I’m not sure if they have this year round, the date cake is AMAZING! Pair it with their latte and you’ll be mmm-ing and ahhh-ing.

For the remainder of the trip we tried other cafes (3 to be exact), but The Pantry at Packages Mall continued to be my go to for a cafe. I plan to go back to Pakistan this year and will be trying more places, if I find something else as fabulous as this place, I’ll be sure to share it with you. The sofa seating area is beautiful and you can choose to sit in the back for a more intimate environment. The other cafes or snack joints at the mall didn’t have as much seating area as this place did.

I love the interior here! Very European and the chalkboard menu is always a cozy touch.

Niagara falls hotels to stay

Robot vacuum’s have been hitting the market for years and helping households keep up with cleaning standards. iRobot is on a roll with innovations and updates. The first robot I ever saw was on our trip to Japan 5 years ago. I thought to myself, I can’t wait till we have one of our own! The Roomba i7+ is our second robot and I’m really excited to share my cleaning routine with you.

Before getting the Roomba i7+, we used our broom and a handheld vacuum. I swept every other day, especially because I have two little children, a mess happening everyday is the usual. However, due to our busy work schedules it can be hard to keep up with a deep clean routine. Naturally, I noticed a schedule form based on when I was likely to have the most time for lower priority household chores. I started to leave the deeper cleaning days to Fridays or during the weekend.

What I’ve noticed now is less deeper cleans because my cleaning efforts go a longer way. Using the Roomba and Braava together allows for frequent (if needed) up-keeping.

Close up of where all the action happens. Check out the sweeper for the hard to reach areas!

READ: The iRobot Braava Jet, robot that mops!

Now I can schedule for a sweep and then a mop to follow behind.
A full clean with both iRobots!

iRobot Technology

I love that I can start the Roomba i7+ from anywhere via my app! Pause, send it back to the charging station and even get updates on the cleaning process.

The app creates a virtual map of your home and will even tell you where the iRobot is. iAdapt 3.0 Navigation with vSLAM technology helps the Roomba i7+ robot vacuum navigate effortlessly around your home.

roomba

There’s also a patented technology called Dirt Detect Technology where it recognizes the high traffic areas of your house and puts extra effort and focus in those places. I’ve seen the edge-sweeping brush work it’s magic and honestly it’s such a great innovation. It grabs debris from edges and hard to reach corners.

The Roomba i7+ Robot Vacuum with Clean Base™ Automatic Dirt Disposal has an AllergenLock™ bag that holds 60 days of debris and traps 99% of pollen, mold and dust mites.

All of these innovations are really awesome but the cherry on top is actually the clean base. This clean base is brilliant! The Roomba i7+ can automatically empty it’s bin so users don’t have to think about it for weeks. Also, no more clouds of dust when dispensing dirt from a regular vacuum. What vacuum are you using at home right now? Maybe it’s time for an upgrade to an iRobot Roomba. You can find the iRobot Roomba i7+ at many retailers, one of them being Amazon.ca.

As you may know there was a Social Media Week event downtown Toronto. I attended seminars that would either add value to my current Digital Marketing Manager role or the Influencer Marketing industry. Here’s a summary:

FACT: 2.5 Billion people will sign up for social by next year.

– Socialbakers ( A global AI-powered social media marketing company offering a marketing software-as-a-service platform called the Socialbakers Suite. )

Social Media Week: Look to your community

to stay informed.

When Instagram came out with Instagram Polls, Question/Answer stickers for stories, everyone first used it for fun. More businesses are now catching on that this is a great tool to learn more about your community.

It’s not as easy as just asking a direct question. If you ask the right questions that pertain to a specific marketing strategy, this could lead to successful campaigning. Here’s an example, what if you need to confirm your hypothesis of what you’ve concluded about your communities needs? McDonald’s had an idea that their customers were eating McNuggets in many ways. Whether it was with ice-cream or dipping it in more than one sauce.

They went to Facebook to simply ask their community, “How do you eat your McNuggets?”

McDonald’s took this data and created an entire campaign around all the special ways people eat their Nuggets and then strategically planned a promotion around it.

2020 is the year of Community Engagement

For all those businesses, bloggers, influencers and personalities on social media who said “I don’t have time”. They will be making time in the coming months when they start to realize the shift. No one cares about the likes. Even the images are questionable. It’s really about how you’re connecting with your people. Do your followers actually feel you provide value to their day? What does that value look like? Among all of this, especially for influencers; we need to balance our authenticity to ourselves and our audience. Doing it just to make it? Your community will see right through you. However, if that’s your “thing”, be honest with everyone.

Spend more time having CONVERSATIONS than posting content.

In a nut shell:

1. CREATE your community
2. Identify trends and pain points
3. CREATE content you can both love
4. Analyze the engagement
5. LEARN from the data

Meeting and listening to Superfan speak about his experience with influencer marketing was incredible. This man is so POSITIVE.
social media toronto superfan
“For 40 mins we’re in competition, but before and after the game we are brothers”
– Superfan (Referring to Basketball games and if he doesn’t like any NBA teams.)

Think Forward to 2020

Trends that you’ll see come up in 2020 in the realm of Social Media are:

Added Value: There will be more value on digital content and creators will go through a behavioral change. Brands that haven’t been crediting content creators for their work will receive backlash from followers and content creators will stand their ground vs. shying away in fear of not getting more business.

Social Self Care: People are re-balancing their digital lives. Seeking out online optimism and engaging better with wholesome content. Opting out of unhealthy social habits. You’ll also see more brands promoting mindfulness and self care. Telling their followers to take a break from being online and enjoying offline activities.

Bad Influence: Yes, there is such thing as bad influence on social media. If you’re being fake, be ready for people to call you out on it. If your life isn’t so lavish as you make it seem on your pretty little squares, you’ll start to lose your communities interest. People want to relate to you. If they can’t relate to you, they’ll leave. As for businesses, stop trying to sell your products and look at selling the experience attached to owning your products. That’s where marketing has been going for the last 3 years. Experiential marketing isn’t just about events, it’s the story behind your product and what it stands for, how it fits into YOUR life.

Not to leave you hanging, but these were the most important takeaways I had from Social Media Week this year. I hope some of this knowledge helps you in your marketing efforts moving forward. Leave me a comment if something really resonated with you.

INSTAGRAM HACKS TO HELP YOU GROW

what’s clubhouse? audio app and everything you need to know about it

Did you hear? For the first time ever, Canada’s Wonderland is transforming the park into a magical winter wonderland called WinterFest! My family and I had the pleasure of experiencing opening night and couldn’t believe how gorgeous the entire park looked. As Gold Season Pass holders we’ve seen the park transition from Summer to Fall/Halloween theme and now Winterfest. Opened Nov 22nd and will be open on select dates until Dec 31st. Generally, Fridays (5-10 pm), Saturdays and Sundays (3-9 pm), the tree lighting ceremony is at 5:30 pm each night.

In total the park is shining bright with over five million holiday lights, festive décor and three 15-metre-high Christmas trees! If you missed my Instagram stories of our evening at Winterfest you can find them in my highlights under ‘Wonderland’. There is honestly so much to see and do at Canada’s Wonderland Winterfest, but I’m narrowing it down to my top 5 experiences you should not leave without experiencing.

Cookie Decorating with Mrs.Claus

1. Decorate Cookies with Mrs.Claus

I think this is a fantastic activity to do as a family! D fell asleep but myself, Zo and hubby enjoyed decorating these cookies. I love that they came in to-go boxes. Which made it easier to save to decorate later. Location: Leviathan Plaza

You can also purchase a voucher online. It’s 4 sugar cookies for $19.99+tax, icing and all toppings to decorate are included. They’re a very decent size (See IG story highlights reel).

This is just one of the many activities you can experience at Canada’s Wonderland. You can also write a letter to Santa, do Christmas Crafts at Sally Brown’s Christmas Crafts located in KidZville and get pictures taken with St.Nick!

2. Ice Skating on Snow Flake Lake

As soon as you enter the park your eyes will be drawn to Snow Flake Lake where there are people skating and enjoying the beautiful view of Winterfest! Note you cannot go on the ice without ice skates. Children can get assistance rails, but there’s a limited quantity. The timing for skating is 30 minute intervals and you can rent skates for $10. If you have your own you can use the lockers to store your Ice Skates so you can enjoy the rest of Winterfest freely.

TIP: There are 2 really great indoor/warming areas for you to get out of the cold and eat your dinner in peace. Seats are limited.

3. Fuel up with comfort food

A winter wonderland (pun intended) wouldn’t be the same if there wasn’t the classic hot chocolate. You can get gourmet hot chocolate throughout the park at various locations such as: Front Gate, True North Gifts, School House Snacks, and Tiny Toms. At Candy Cane cafe you can get nutella french toast and you know the all time funnel cake favourite? It’s been winterized with specialties like egg nog and gingerbread, to name a few. Basically it’s not just about the park and it’s entertainment that has been transformed, they’ve also added an awesome line up of comfort food.

canada's wonderland and the live entertainment at winterfest

4. Live Entertainment

The options for live entertainment are mind blowing! They have a roaming band and if you come early, watch the tree lighting ceremony that happens at 5:30 pm. We’re really excited to watch the Tinker’s Toy Factory the next time we go!

5. Rides

One of our favourite family rides at Wonderland are open during Winterfest! The Boo Blasters on Boo Hill. An interactive ride where you blast all the boo’s throughout a haunted mansion. Check out the other rides that are available during this time over here.

Holiday collections have hit the stores and one I look forward to every year is Quo, only available at Shoppers Drug Mart. Quo 2019, is all about beautiful sets and they’re such great gift idea options! Here are some of the holiday sets you’ll see at a Shoppers Drug Mart near you:
