Spring Shoes Favourites at Dixie Outlet Mall [Style]

Can Spring get here already?! Although a trip to Dixie Outlet Mall to shop for Spring looks helps make the cold bearable. Before the weather starts to feel like Spring, I’m out and about looking for the best deals and building my Spring outfits from head to toe. Speaking of toes, shoes are some of my favourite items to shop for.

My ideal spring shoes, are a mix of some heels, flats or sneakers.

A great way to get organized for Spring shopping is to figure out which colours and textures you’re looking for. Are you rocking pastels, nudes or keeping it basic with black, white and grey this Spring? This Spring I’m mixing nudes, pastels and grey in my wardrobe.

On my recent trip to Dixie Outlet Mall I scored some amazing #DixieDeals! My goal was to find great spring shoes that would go with my new Spring wardrobe. Here’s how it all went down:

The Aldo Outlet has a great selection for the new Spring season, AND in the back, you can find clearance racks from previous seasons with even bigger markdowns! I walked over to the sale rack to see if there was anything that could be worn for Spring 2017.

#DixieDeals Hack: Always check for the clearance racks in every store at the Dixie Outlet Mall, these are usually found in the back of the store.

The heels that stood out to me to the most, were the beautiful suede ones. Often seen in the Fall, is also perfect for colder but dry Spring days.

At regular price these strappy heels were $90, went on sale for $60 and I got them for $40 because of the in-store promotion. At $40, these heels are a steal!

Next stop, Call It Spring. I’ve bought shoes from Spring in the past, and they are some of my most comfortable shoes. These blush pink sneakers are really comfortable and I love the pattern on the sides. At $50 they are one of my new Spring shoe favourites!

If you haven’t noticed already in the pictures above, there’s a cute black purse. A cute purse that looks very close to a Chanel version. Dupe? Maybe. Coco Shoes Outlet at Dixie Outlet Mall, not only has shoes (which is why I went in there) but they also have a great selection of purses. The purse was regularly priced at $65 and I got it on sale for $35! I’ve already had two people comment on my purse and both have gone and got it for themselves! You can’t go wrong with a staple black purse.

The last outlet I checked out at Dixie was Urban Behaviour. They have a huge selection of merchandise in this store, from basics, to accessories, going out clothes and shoes. I picked up these simple grey sneakers for only $14! I go through sneakers a lot. Probably because they’re always my go-to shoes for comfort and long walks.

The inside of these sneakers have a great cushion feeling to them. Almost like you’re walking on a cloud. I love that! With these I get the quality of an expensive shoe, at an AWESOME affordable price tag!

Estée Lauder is an old favourite line of mine. There are a handful of items I’ve used in this line that I always keep going back too. Recently, I’ve been obsessed with these 3 estee lauder skincare favourites:

Let’s shine the spotlight on these three skincare products that have been tried, tested and true! Being a beauty blogger, I get to try a lot of make up and skincare products. For an honest review of a product, I feel it’s fair to try the product for months, when you actually start to see results or in some cases none. I’ve got one empty, one almost and third still got a few weeks worth to go.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair
Intensive Recovery Ampoules

This oil comes in a glass jar with individual capsules. Having the oil in individual capsules take’s the guessing out of the actual amount you need. One capsule is perfect for your entire face and neck. It definitely doesn’t sit oily on the skin. Absorbs quickly and has no shine.

True story: I gave a capsule to my sister to try when she was sleeping over. She had just took her make-up off and was complaining about how tight and dry her skin felt. The next morning she couldn’t stop raving about how great the product was, and how nice her skin felt. Yup. Just with one use. I’ve noticed my skin is a lot more even, less shading below my lips and overall even skin tone + radiance.

Estee Lauder ‘Revitalizing Supreme’ Global Anti-Aging Creme

I finished this cream real quick! So light and beautiful. Absolutely loved this cream and never forgot to apply it as I usually do. My skin was always hydrated, make-up went on beautifully and only to find out today that it’s been replaced. However, I did some quick research and it’s the same name but with additional good stuff. It’s called Revitalizing Supreme + Global Anti-Aging Cell Power Crème and looks like the additional ingredient is Moringa Extract. Moringa Extract comes from the Moringa tree and has a whole slew of benefits for the skin. Well known as an anti-oxidant rich leaf. Price: $94 for 1.70 oz.

Revitalizing Supreme+ Global Anti-Aging Wake Up Balm

This balm is the perfect amount of moisture for the entire day. Although I feel that it has the texture of a lotion, rather than a balm, and you’ll also notice there’s a touch of shimmer. Looks like mica. The shimmer is great for wearing under make-up, as it gives you that instant glow. Some people relate anti-aging creams with heavy texture creams that weigh down on your skin. This Global Anti-Aging line is the complete opposite. This wake-up balm also includes plant stem cell extract. I use it only in the morning but you can use at any time of the day/night for an instant boost of radiance. Price: $73.65 (sale)

Party Animal Theme Birthday Party

It’s becoming increasingly difficult to come up with unique birthday theme ideas. During baby D’s birthday planning, I would say what helped the most to come up with a theme was asking the golden question, “What is he absolutely in love with right now?” and the answer was easy, animals. He loves nature, animals and everything beautiful about our planet Earth. Our back and forth chatter is a lot of “Oh look! Trees!” and his reply is a mumble-y, “Where’s the nest? Eggs!”. Looking forward to the warmer weather so we can build a few bird feeders together and put them up in the backyard. So what better theme to choose for his 2nd birthday but party animal!

For his party animal themed birthday there were a few things that I made sure had that animal touch, I say a few things because I don’t like to go nuts with themes and make everything animal etc. Learnt my lesson with my bridal shower when everything was Alice In Wonderland theme and it was just way too much work. (Details here.) This time, I’m a massive preggo and don’t have as much energy as I normally do, so keeping it sweet and simple was going to be it.

We had Pawsitively Pets join us for the birthday to present about 12 different animals to the children who were at the party. It was an extremely interactive event and he really could not retain his excitement. I had to actually sit with him and hold him back a few times because he was so excited about the animals. We learnt facts about the animals being presented and everyone got a chance to hold them as well. I highly recommend them for parties! Also, we had a super fun bouncy castle and an automatic train that moved on tracks. The kids were crazy about it! You can book them both here.

For the dessert table we had spread out little animal figurines, my favourite ones are by Schleich. They make toys that look extremely realistic and the quality is just excellent. Indigo online sells them or you can find them on Amazon.ca like I did. Colour theme was blue, white and yellow, hence the yellow flowers and the balloon colours.

Baking a buttercream cake isn’t as easy as it looks. Lots of steps, tools and patience needed! Maybe I’ll share some tips in a future post! Let me know 😉

For the little party hats I got the inspo from this blog post. So here’s how I made the little hats and banner:

Supplies needed
Glue gun
2 sticks (to hold the banner)
Scissors
Template
Fun paper – not too thin so it stays straight for the banner and holds well as a cone for the hat.
Thin yarn like string

STEP ONE

Cut out the shape of the birthday hats. Use the above template link! Super helpful.

STEP TWO

Use your glue gun to glue the hat once the length and size of the hat is achieved. I played around with mine for a bit. Kept turning out too long so cut the bottom little bits at a time, until I got to the length I liked. That only happened because I didn’t use the template at first, so there shouldn’t be a problem if you do use the template. 😉

STEP THREE

Take the thin yarn in a small amount, roll it into a tiny ball and glue it on top of the hat. You can also use little pom poms that you can find at an arts and crafts store, but I used this thin yarn so that I could use it also for the banner. Double use saves you a few bucks I guess.

LAST

Put some glue around the bottom trim of the little hat and place it on to the head of the animal.
When the event is over you can easily pop them off and the glue comes off effortlessly.

BANNER

Wrap the string on both sticks and cut out small triangles with your child’s name spelled out, each triangle being a letter. When you’re done just glue each triangle onto the hanging string. This party animal birthday theme was perfect! Even the adults had a lot of fun!

Party favours, we got some animal plush toys and teddy bears and attached cotton candy packs to them for a sweet touch. Check out C’est La Puf that does numerous amount of flavours of organic cotton candy. You can also follow them on Instagram or Facebook.

The New Staple Must Have: Bomber Jacket [OOTD]

BOMBER JACKET

A staple in every girls closet is the classic jean jacket. Goes over all your cute dresses and can turn any outfit from boring to fashionista status. My new favourite staple these days is the green bomber jacket! I’m loving the bomber jacket look and will definitely opt in for it when the colours pair well. Looks especially nice when paired with accessories like choker necklaces and aviator sunglasses.

This colour in particular looks best with nudes, browns and black. I love the graphics on this bomber! Even in my last trimester I’m able to rock this bomber jacket with ease. I had a lot of people stopping me and asking where I got it. I’m wearing the XL and it’s on sale for $25 from $75! I purposely got a bigger size so it could wear a little looser on me. I read the helpful reviews as well and most people said to purchase 1 or 2 sizes up.

I’m so excited to be an ambassador of Dixie Outlet Mall, which means I’ll be sharing lots of #DixieDeals across all of my platforms! Hint* make sure you’re following me.

It’s been just about a year since we moved into our new house, and the living room has become one of the most important, if not the most important room in the house. We spend so much time here, from watching Netflix to cuddling/playing with baby D. We needed to make sure this room was comfy and cozy.

The challenge was that our schedules have been super crazy since we moved in, so it’s been hard to find the time to spruce up the place. Enter Dixie Outlet Mall to the rescue! We headed to the Winners first to see what #DixieDeals we could find to make our favourite room even cozier, and our Netflix nights more Chill.

Of course, when you start shopping in a store like Winners, it’s really hard not to pick up items for yourself too, but it’s all part of the job though, right?! I’ve been to the Dixie Outlet Mall Winners store a bunch of times and no joke, I always leave there with an amazing find. I made my way to the women’s section and found an awesome button-up Ralph Lauren shirt to wear to work for $40. A shirt like this usually costs between $100-150 at the Ralph Lauren store, so this was a major score! I opted for a boyfriend size/look so I could fit into it while I struggle get through the last seven weeks of my pregnancy. Naturally during pregnancy, when your belly gets big, everything else starts to stretch out… my waist isn’t as tiny as it used to be, so I picked up some super cozy PJ pants by Max Studio for $20! And with that, I was set to Netflix and Chill in all my cozy, but stylish splendor.

Fast forward to our movie night in, which is a rarity with our aforementioned crazy schedules, so they’re even more of a treat when we find the time to indulge. Speaking of time, part of the reason I love this Ralph Lauren shirt is it’s stylish, but also super comfy, so I don’t have to waste time do a full outfit change when I get home from work. Just a quick switch into my Max Studio PJ pants and I am good to go and get some popcorn poppin’!

But, remember part of the reason we went to Dixie Outlet Mall was to fix up the living room, and the best way to do that quick and easy is with great cushions, and a throw. These super-soft, plush, cream cushions were just $35 for a set of two and this lovely throw that you may have seen all over Instagram was $24.99!

All of the outlets at Dixie Outlet Mall have AMAZING clearance racks; these are even more discounted than the already marked down goods. I snatched this orb for $8 and these popcorn bowls for $15 from the Winners clearance rack, so make sure to always head to the back of the stores, you never know what you might find! There are so many great stores in Dixie Outlet Mall, I was amazed at how I found everything in one store for this shopping challenge, but that didn’t stop me from popping into other stores to get some more ideas…more on that later 🙂

Eva’s Original Chimneys in Toronto

The weather has been incredible this Family Day long weekend! As soon as it gets warm outside, I want to be out in the sun, catching some rays and having ice cream! I was cruising the web when I accidentally saw an image of Eva’s original chimneys cones. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m pregnant or just my usual ice-cream crazy self, but I just HAD to have it.

Drove from Mississauga to downtown, so we could try Eva’s original chimneys. I actually remember trying a chimney from their food truck at a festival in Scarborough, and it was the perfect combination of sweet and salty. The best way to describe it is a doughnut ice-cream cone.

I went for the peanut butter pretzel parfait; the inside of the cone was lined with peanut butter and the outside had graham cracker crumbs. The soft-serve ice cream is honestly the best I’ve ever had. It’s thick and almost tastes like mousse or I guess even a milkshake. Daanish got the Berrylicious cone and when he got to the end of it there was a pleasant surprise, a Lindor ball! Our friend went for the dream cone and I’m totally getting it next time! These cones are dessert meals so bring your appetite.

There are so many Eva’s original chimneys options to choose from, but I love that the menu isn’t overwhelming either. the menu offers you a reason to go back and try other combinations.

Also, if you get thirsty after the ice-cream they have complimentary water to quench your thirst. If you want to sit indoors there is a fair amount of seating area in the back. Some booths and a large size table for a group sitting.

I’ve been on the hunt for a really good lip pencil. I’ve tried so many brands and I couldn’t say I had a favourite one until now! Can you imagine, 10+ years of being a beauty advisor, VIB member at Sephora and not one lip pencil to be my go to. So cray!

Of course I was a bit skeptical before I tried BITE beauty’s new lip pencil. I thought, okay, here we go. Just another lip pencil. I was so very wrong. This lip pencil ($20, shop here) is my new found make-up love. I’m obsessed! It’s everything I ever wanted in a lip pencil. Soft, creamy, super pigmented and easy to sharpen.

In a nut shell, if you haven’t heard of BITE Beauty before, it’s a Canadian brand with their head office being in Toronto. Their lip products are highly pigmented made with hydrating formulas and are infused with food-grade ingredients.

On a side note, I always give my honest opinion on products that I receive complimentary and if it’s sponsored the brand is aware my honesty to my readers comes first. 5 Ways to Relax [Happy Valentine’s Day!]

Happy Valentine’s Day! I’m going to steer away from the Valentines Day ootd’s, gift ideas etc posts and bring to you these quick ways to relax. Because let’s remember, valentines day isn’t just about loving others or others loving you, but also about loving yourself. Taking care of you and making yourself happy.

It’s so easy to say; relax, but not so easy to actually get into that mood. Especially if you’re all about that busy life, doing multiple things at once, wear a gazillion hats and fear taking a break because you could be really checking something off your to do list. Well, honestly, take that damn break! We get so riled up in our crazy busy lives that we often forget to take time for ourselves. So here’s my fool proof 5 quick ways to relax, and please.. I want you to try at least one and tell me how wonderful it felt.

LUSH BATH BOMBS

Omagosh. They’re so pretty, smell amazing and get you into the tub. I don’t know about you, but I can’t find the time to just lay in the tub thinking of sweet nothings. It’s shower, out and go.

But taking that time to go to the store, pick out your selection of bath bombs, smell them, feel them.. really look forward to each one, really does enhance that relaxing experience you’ll want to go for. That initial drop in the tub and watching it turn your tub water into all sorts of pretty colours… oh and the aroma… ugh. Don’t get me started on the aroma. Take that scent in. Deep breaths my friend. I have a handful sitting in a basket in my bathroom. And when the time is right, and I totally need that getaway, I pick one of my LUSH bath bombs and I’m checking out of life, travelling to my bath bomb oasis.

MASKS

I’ve built up a collection of masks for all kinds of days. Just for fun, treatment and troubled skin masks. What I love about masks is that I don’t need to dedicate a whole lot of time to doing one. You can even put one on and continue doing whatever it is you need to do. Well I wouldn’t go outside with it on. Let’s not scare the neighbours, okay? If you want deep relaxation, you can apply your mask, cut a few cucumber slices and apply it to your closed eye lids and maybe eat a few and just lay there. Do absolutely nothing for 15-30 minutes depending on how long you need to keep your mask on.

MEDITATION/PRAYER

Make time to collect yourself. Whether it’s meditating or prayer, make that time every day to stop and collect your thoughts, release negativity and bring in all the goodness that the world has to offer. I know, it may sound a little crazy to some of you, but it doesn’t hurt to try right?

REPEAT REPEAT REPEAT

Did you know repetitive motions such as running a brush through your hair (try for a 100 strokes), washing dishes or even folding clothes can help you relax? Even with a dishwasher at home, I actually enjoy sometimes washing dishes. I may not be drawn to doing it at first, but once I get started, I just can’t stop. If you go for the 100 strokes of brushing your hair, it’ll help with stimulating healthy hair growth and shinier hair. Especially if you use a bristle brush.

ART

Not everyone’s cup of tea, but art can really help you wind down. I like to have at least one project ongoing that involves me painting or getting crafty. At the moment I have two that I’m almost done. I guess that’s why those adult colouring books are pretty popular now.

It’s all about setting the ambiance. You can do all of these quick ways to relax methods but creating that environment of soft background music, or absolute silence, turning yourself off and submerging yourself into relaxation is key here.

IGK Hair [REVIEW]

Natural hairstyles seemed to be the trend in 2016. Designers and brands like Brandon Maxwell, Lacoste, Prabal Gurung and Sophie Theallet all rocked natural or beachy wavy looks on the runway at NYFW. Not to mention that’s the go to look for Victoria Secret models as well. Ironically, achieving that sexy, natural, wavy hair is sometimes harder then it looks. If you have the right products then more then half the battle is taken care of.

IGK Beach Club Texture Spray

I normally don’t use hairspray or any hair products on a daily basis, unless I know I have meetings or have to go somewhere. However, this product is a game changer for me. It’s super easy to use and I love using it every other day when I have that extra 3 minutes to spare in the morning before work. I actually wore it in my hair today and got some compliments about the volume and wavy-ness of my hair. I use to have very wavy hair, it was beautiful. Thick, wavy and long. *sigh* But all the hair dying damage I’ve done to my hair has made it fall flat and the natural waves that were once bouncy and sexy have disappeared. *womp womp* So in conclusion, I’m loving this product as it has brought back all those wonderful hair memories haha, and I’m totally going to use it as much as I can.

Now more about the product, it’s light weight, non-sticky compared to your traditional hair spray and even has some glycerin in it that gives you a soft finishing touch. TIP: Work the product into your roots as you would with a dry shampoo for awesome volume results.

IGK Smoke & Mirrors Conditioning Cleansing Oil

I was hesitant about this product because my roots have been getting oily pretty quick these days. Not sure if it’s the humidity levels in my office/home or the odd weather. I thought this product was going to make my hair oil central, “bring on the rigs folks”. Jokes aside, it was not oily at all! I’m currently using a very nice natural shampoo that I’ll share with you all soon. I used that first, then I followed instructions and worked the cleansing oil into my scalp and even used a bit on my ends as I would with any other conditioner. Once my hair air dried, I’m happy to say there was no after residue or oiliness from that product. My hair was soft, manageable and shiny. The only thing I didn’t like was the smell. As the name of the product is smoke and mirrors. It was smokey. It has a very masculine scent. So guys would love this cleansing oil. I love it for the results, but there is no way I could only use this product and call it a day. That’s when I used the coconut oil gel to mask the scent.

I used this product in damp hair after I had cleansed my hair with the cleansing oil. So I’m not sure if I would’ve had the same results for the cleansing oil if I didn’t pair it with this product. I’ll have to try that one day and see, but I can’t risk my hair smelling smokey either. I love this rich kid coconut oil gel because it doesn’t feel so much like styling gel, it feels more like a leave in hair treatment with that bonus styling factor. I love products like that!

Any hair gels I’ve used in the past, I’ve had to wash my hair immediately in the evening before bed because of the sticky uncomfortable feeling of the product. But this product melts into your hair and feels as if it’s not even there! I kept it in my hair for two days before I washed it out. I think that’s important if you’re someone like me who dyes her hair often and needs to minimize washes to maintain the dye. Overall my favourite of the three IGK products has to be the Beach texture spray, then the coconut gel and last the cleansing oil.
