What are Thoughtful Choices Products?

Shoppers Drug Mart’s Thoughtful Choices products must meet at least one of the following two criteria: no animal testing and formulated without harmful ingredients (such as Parabens, SLS, SLES, etc.), and packaging that contains recycled content (minimum 30%), fully recyclable, and refillable solutions. Quo – What’s New & Summer 2018 Collection at Shoppers Drug Mart

A new season means NEW make-up! For the Quo Summer launch, I get to check out all the great goodies Quo has that’s new and in their limited edition Summer 2018 collection. For those of you who have never heard of Quo. It is a house brand for Shoppers Drug Mart. I’ve used many of their products for years and have gotten to know what are their great products and which Quo I’m not a huge fan of. I’ve been using their Wet & Dry powder foundation for years. It’s honestly my favourite. I’ve actually tried replacing it with other brands and had no luck.

I have also noticed that not all of their makeup brushes are good. I’ve actually tried every single one as a make-up artist and know exactly which ones fall apart quickly (brush hairs falling). The foundation and concealer brushes are great. However, the Powder and blush brushes are terrible. But if you ever see any limited edition makeup brush sets, make sure you snag those. Because they’re usually awesome and you still get the house brand price of course. You’ll be happy to know that the Quo Summer 2018 collection has some pretty cool makeup brushes (metallic design) and the makeup bag it comes with is so nice that you’ll want to use it every day.

What to Expect with a Skin Consultation at Shoppers Drug Mart

Winter is coming to an end as we’re running into more days with double digits. So what does that mean for your skin? As seasons change, so do the needs for your skin. In the winter, the dryness in the air from having your heating on could make your skin dehydrated or dry. In the summer, your skin may produce an excess amount of sebum. To keep up with the right routine for your skin, I highly recommend you visit Shoppers Drug Mart for a skin consultation. It doesn’t cost anything and will only benefit your skin. Instead of buying products that your skin doesn’t need or that you’ll be returning the next day, why not narrow down what it does need.

I went through the entire experience and more! The skin consultation service isn’t completely new to me. When I was a beauty advisor at Shoppers Drug Mart over a decade ago, I would actually do the skin consultations and use the moisture checker machine on customers regularly. It helps identify which parts of the face are actually in need for more moisture and which parts are balanced.

My overall average for moisture was 29%. This was below the average. Which meant my skin is on the dehydrated side. I kind of knew this already. A strong telltale sign would be after you wash your face, does it feel really tight and uncomfortable? Yes. Then you have dehydration, my friend.

There was also a second machine that went further to actually show me where my age spots, sun spots and any kind of skin damage was.

Being By Sanctuary Spa – Body Butter

This body butter in Salted Caramel and Macadamia smells SO good and feels amazing on the skin. I use this after I shower and the scent lives with me all day. I’m all for layering scents for that extra long scent life. The body butter is loaded with cocoa and shea butter, which are known for their intense moisturizing abilities. It’s $20 for a 300 ml.

HIBISCUS & COCONUT WATER BODY SCRUB

The combination of using this body scrub and then the body butter after; you smell great all day and your skin will feel soft and hydrated. $20 for 250g.

This flavour actually has a hand cream as well. $10.

CLOUDBERRY & LYCHEE BLOSSOM

Smells just like its name! Love the foaming shower gel, well because it gets really foamy..duh! If you’re a fan of lychee, you’ll be happy to know this product actually has lychee extracts in it. The shower gel is $15 and you can marry it with the cloudberry and lychee blossom body lotion, $16.

What’s NEW at Shoppers Drug Mart, That You’ll Want To Try!

Before you head over to your local Shoppers Drug Mart, let me tell you about what’s new! Whether you’re looking for new makeup, a skincare routine or some new pantyhose socks – Shoppers Drug Mart has got you covered. Okay, that totally sounds like an AD. This isn’t sponsored, just a die-hard fan of the drug store. I mean, I have to be right? If I worked for them for over a decade. *shoulder shrug* I’ve taken some time to actually try these products so that I can also let you know whether they work or not.

Let’s start with what’s new at SDM within the Pixi line:

PIXI GLOW TONIC – 100 ml $20

This is Pixi’s most popular product that every beauty blogger has tried and raves about! This toner gently accelerates cell renewal, so you have glowing skin. You’ll notice your skin tone is clear, smoother and if you had any uneven skin tone, then no more. It also balances your pH levels. I used this for a week before I noticed a substantial difference in my skin. Be patient and give it a try!

PIXI LIPLIFT MAX IN SHEER ROSE – $20

I love this colour! The perfect sheer pink. I’m also a huge fan of lip plumpers. I’ve tried so many and I have gotta say this is definitely the best in terms of colour and plumping action. Unlike most lip plumpers this one leaves a cool sensation on the lips. The jojoba oil nourishes and deeply hydrates your lips and the plumping effect with regular use creates a longer-term effect of plumper lips.

PIXI MESMERIZING MINERAL PALETTE IN PLUM QUARTZ – $16

Six beautiful colours in this palette that are made with a mineral formula. Matte, satin, and glow shades to choose from.

PIXI ENDLESS SILKY EYE PEN IN BLACK COCOA – $16

Love this waterproof long-wear eye pencil, smudge proof and actually stays on. Super pigmented and glides on easily, almost as if it’s a liquid liner.

JOE FRESH HYDRA LASH NOURISHING MASCARA – $12

This mascara is great if you love the silicone wand. I’m not a huge fan of the “defining” lashes look but on some, it looks amazing. It’s more of a natural look. What I do love about this mascara is that it has argan oil in it.

LIFE BRAND MICELLAR WATER – $9.99

This water is so awesome it even removed the Pixi waterproof eyeliner! It’s not for waterproof makeup but hey, it worked! This gentle formula lifts away dirt, oil, and makeup without drying your skin. All skin types can use it. Dermatologist and ophthalmologist tested. And look how big it is! 400ml for $9.99. Pretty awesome.

SECRET COLLECTION SILKY KNEE HIGHS – $7.99

YES TO TOMATOES DETOXIFYNG CHARCOAL FACIAL WIPES – $3.29

Perfect for traveling, these little black wipes (literally black), deep clean the skin and are perfect for the gym too.

MASQUE BAR BY LOOK BEAUTY BRIGHTENING SHEET MASK – $9.99

This is a sheet masque that helps minimize the appearance of dark spots and any pigmentation irregularities. I have slight pigmentation on my forehead and around my mouth area, and let me tell you how this mask actually did brighten up those areas. It contains orange extract, licorice root and vitamin c.

SOAP & GLORY SEXY MOTHER PUCKER PILLOW PLUMP IN NUDE IN TOWN – $24

The last time I used a sexy mother pucker lip plumper was at least 7 years ago and when I tried this one I must say I was just as pleased as I was 7 years ago. It’s super strong and you definitely feel the tingly feeling of it working.

CAKE BEAUTY THE WAVE MAKER BEACH SPRAY – $19

I love cake beauty products! If you’re contemplating on using these products, try them! I’ve tried the dry shampoo and they’re one of the best and this wavemaker smells great, not sticky and does the trick to get those naturally tousled waves!

It’s that time of the year when to give is beautiful. This weekend I had the pleasure of attending a holiday event at Vaughan Mills shopping center as a Fragrance expert. I took people who attended (open to public) through a fragrance experience that peaked all of their senses! All fragrances I spoke about are available at Shoppers Drug Mart’s beauty boutiques. In case you missed this event, don’t worry! The next one is happening at the Eaton Center, Dec 2nd and 3rd from mall opening to close hours.

So here’s what went down: You’re greeted by some beautiful ladies, who go through a summary of the experience you’ll have. Then directed to the fragrance station. Here I asked people what fragrances they were most drawn too. Based on their answer that gave me an idea of which ones I should start off with showing. We discussed different scents, notes in the fragrance and before testing the fragrance some tips on how to best apply it. In a nut shell, beautyBOUTIQUE wants Canadians to step into the holidays with this year’s must-haves in fragrance from beautyBOUTIQUE by Shoppers Drug Mart.

Based on their fragrance choice there was a mocktail to match!

While enjoying their mocktails; they waited their turn to get a make-up application.

Once done with their make-up, everyone received a gift that had a make-up bag, a Christmas tree beauty blender and a 20x points + $10 gift card to be used at beauty boutiques.

There was also this super fun glitter wall that everyone took pictures in front. The lovely beautyBOUTIQUE ladies were taking polaroids of those who got their make-up done.
